Warehousing and Distribution

Northern Motorway Warehousing (NMW), a trading division of Kettlewell, commenced operations in 1980 with a brand new building and it has grown to occupy the present 3 Sites close to intersection 40 of the M1 and about 5 miles South of the M62 intersection. This is an ideal central position for speedy distribution throughout England and Wales and up into Scotland.

Operating from the site is a fleet of tautliners which maintain a regular distribution pattern throughout the UK.

Expertise and experience falls under different headings - the traffic segregated in separate units as appropriate:

An extensive racked area maintained to the necessary high standard of cleanliness and, of course, an independent pest control contract. NMW carries out daily order picking for major customers and can organise sampling, weighing, shrink wrapping or other services according to needs

Since the outset NMW has worked for major Scandinavian Paper Mills and is equipped to handle both reels and pallets. Cleanliness and careful handling are also basic to this trade and NMW has experience of all the different paper sizes/weights/qualities which are necessary for satisfactory storage and distribution.

NMW has an important trade in chemicals (including loose drums for which NMW has the appropriate handling equipment) as well as finished goods - some of which are stacked and others accommodated in racking according to the needs of the products. In these competitive times "presentation of the product" is vital and staff are very conscious that the product must look good when it arrives at the customer.

NMW does not operate trailer services to the Continent but has the necessary container ramps and equipment to offer neutral handling facilities to forwarders. Such regular services operating from the premises can be useful to our customers when called upon to make urgent deliveries overseas.

The business has grown as NMW have adapted to the needs of clients, acquiring equipment to services new products and purchasing a second site in 1992....so that it follows NMW are keen to widen yet further trade and traffic and are looking for opportunities to invest again to achieve continued growth.
